Review: PQ Talking Photo
Have you ever visited a website called JibJab.com? If not chances are you have probably seen one of their videos. JibJab.com has developed a technology which can take a photo of a anyone and animate it to talk, sing, dance and pretty much do anything. JibJab.com took their technology to the next level when they introduced “Starring You!“. Using an online interface you can import photos of your friends and family and actually insert them into short videos. Surely, an easy night of entertainment. Now a new piece of software allows you to not only animate people, but instead of a face “cut-out” like that offered on JibJab.com, the software animates the photo of a person within the photo you import into it. Kingston joins the 16GB SDHC party
Posted Jan 31st 2008 3:46PM by Nilay PatelFiled under: Storage The memory card announcements at PMA continue — Kingston has just announced its first 16GB SDHC card. Sure, we’re happy for them, but at $231, it’s more expensive than SanDisk’s $179 16GB card — which comes with a USB 2.0 reader — and it’s certainly not as impressive as SanDisk’s new 32GB card. Also, your hair is frizzy and you look fat. But have fun at the party!Tags: cellphone, audio, cable, amps (Read the full post about ‘Kingston joins the 16GB SDHC party’…)

Review: Wipeout Pulse for PSP

Review: Wipeout Pulse for PSP
Wipeout Pulse is Sony’s latest lighter-than-air racing effort on the PlayStation Portable. The game is still about two weeks away from its official release date, but some near-finished review code showed up at my doorstep a few days ago. Read on to find out whether you should get in the anti-gravity race or stay off the track. I first got a look at Wipeout Pulse back in December during Sony’s Spring 2008 Preview Event. At the time, there wasn’t much for me to say about the game, because I didn’t spend terribly long with it. But now that I’ve run through the game, I have a much better idea of what the series is about and how this game fits into it. (Read the full post about ‘Review: Wipeout Pulse for PSP’…)

scanR Application Converts Docs Into PDFs
scanR has developed an imaging technology that turns printed color documents which were captured on a cell phone (of decent megapixel count, I might add) into PDF format. This is different from what we currently have, since today’s technology requires color documents to be converted into a black-and-white format before the text can be distinguished from the photographs. Since scanR’s new application takes a different route, it is capable of recording characters even in color. Pretty neat, huh? PX-3600 Clone Amalgamation

PX-3600 Clone Amalgamation
Check out the PX-3600 console that hails from where else but China. It probably needs to see a shrink as it can’t decide on whether it wants to be an Xbox, a PS2, a PS3, or even something totally revolutionary. Chances are near non-existent that it will be able to handle current or even past gen console games, but ought not to have any problem with titles from the 8- and 16-bit eras. You will be able to run your own shady clone console shop only if you order a thousand of these or more, although I’m not too sure just how many customers you will get. Hands-on with Nikon’s new Coolpix lineup
Posted Jan 31st 2008 1:24PM by Steven KimFiled under: Digital Cameras Nikon has a raft of new Coolpix digicams at PMA to cover the range of shutterbugs, from “give me more options” to “just a shutter, please.” For those who want some more options but just can’t commit to a DSLR yet, there’s the P60. You’ll get to play around with 8.1-megapixels, 15 (!) scene modes, manual mode and 5x stabilized zoom. The heart of the Coolpix lineup belongs to the compact S550, S520 and S210 models. The S550 sports a 10-megapixel sensor and 5x zoom with electonic stabilization. The S520 has true optical stabilization attached to the 3x zoom optics and an 8-megapixel CCD. Think Geek 8-Bit Dynamic Life Shirt Saddens Normal People
Maybe I am just jaded and twisted as I head towards middle age at the speed of a bullet train, but I think that these ThinkGeek 8-Bit Dynamic Life Shirts are sad. They are not cute, they are not funny, and they are unlikely to put a smile on my face and will certainly not brighten up my day. The only people that are going to wear these are overly affectionate young couples in the most sickening stages of puppy love, or those that are so revoltingly desperate that they wish to advertise their loneliness by means of a glowing shirt. As you draw near your special someone, the life meter lights up. You can get up to six lives. The battery is good for three hours, if you can go that long without taking a big time monster beating. Olympus Stylus lineup hands-on
Posted Jan 31st 2008 2:12PM by Steven KimFiled under: Digital Cameras Basic point-and-shoot digicams is what the Stylus line is all about, and the trend continues. Up here are some shots of the 840, 850SW and 1030SW. 8-megapixels on the 840 and 850SW with 5x and 3x zoom, respectively.
