Anonymous programmer cracks Yahoo’s CAPTCHA software
An anonymous programmer going by the name “John Wane” has claimed to have cracked Yahoo’s CAPTCHA software. CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing Test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart) software is used by most major websites, including Yahoo, MySpace, Amazon, and others, to prevent automated systems from creating thousands of accounts to send spam with. Everyone’s seen it. When you register on a site, you’re presented with an image containing a jumbled “code” and you must enter it correctly to continue.  “John Wane” posted code for a decoder he claimed could get around that step and has an accuracy rate of 35%. Gun-shaped egg fryers

Gun-shaped egg fryers
Don’t you love it when you spend all day trying to remember the name of some song you haven’t heard in years only to hear it in the background of whatever you’re watching on TV that night? If so, then you’ll be thrilled by these stainless steel gun egg fryers that will allow you to make your Western omelettes a little more Western, if you know what I mean. They . . . wait, what? You weren’t just thinking about how fantastic it would be to serve gun-shaped eggs to your kids while staring at the boring splat-shaped ones you made for breakfast this morning? Oh. Well, these fryers don’t seem too readily available anyway. You’ll need to contact UrbanTrend for more information. Via Laughing Squid. (Read the full post about ‘Gun-shaped egg fryers’…)

Check out the Silencio Canister Vacuum from Samsung that in a strange way, somewhat resembles Master Chief’s helmet. Samsung claims that its multi chamber system is capable of trapping up to 99.3% of dust, boasting a suction power rating of 360 air watts. I wonder whether there will be any Halo fans picking this model up while spray painting it with some gold and green in order to make it look as though Master Chief was in the house. Other features include a HEPA 13 filtration system that catches 99.95% of micro particles, and Silver Nano technology that prevents bacteria and other odor-causing agents from building up.

Steve Jobs Set to Unveil the iChurch? Er, No [Apple]
Just when you thought the iPhone’s Giz-induced alternative monicker, the jesusPhone, was about to fade into obscurity, a Texas church has seen reason to bring it back. The Colleyville establishment has plastered a massive sign on one of its walls that is mightily reminiscent of the iPhone, with some rather interesting apps icons (anyone want to play Soldier with me?) There’s a bigger pic after the jump. However, at the risk of sounding like a pedantic little trollop, surely that should read iDentity, rather than identity? Faux Digital Message Tape Looks Interesting, Time Consuming
For the latest info on the coolest gadgets, emerging technology and wired madness, subscribe to our full news feed or have it delivered to your inbox. Always free. Always unique. Thanks for visiting! Normally faux anything rubs me the wrong way but this faux-digital message tape looks very interesting indeed.  You write messages by blacking out white sections on the tape.  It could take a while to put together a message of any length; but it does make a nice alternative to temporary signs.  I don’t think this thing has any genuine home applications, but for mischief or business related activities, it truly rocks. LEGO Contest Picks Up Steam, Pod Racer, London Imperial Shuttle and Jeff Vader [Lego]
Some of you asked for it when we showed you the LEGO Steampunk Tie Fighter and here it is: a LEGO Steampunk Pod Racer, the Darling Apollo IV driven by Trenton Telgaard. Whoever that is. It’s also part of the LEGO Steam Wars contest, like the brilliant London Imperial Shuttle after the jump (right next to an hilarious LEGO animation set to Eddie Izzard’s monologue on Darth Vader’s at the Death Star’s cafeteria. A must for a monday morning.) galleryPost(’legopodracer’, 3, ‘LEGO Steampunk Pod Racer’); I don’t know about you, but I find that quite funny. Funny in a Queen’s Seaside Rendezvous steampunkcampish kind of way, but funny. As opposed to hilarious, like the following monologue. Goth-style Webcam is So Hideous You Wouldn’t Want to Film Your Expression [Gadgets]
Sweet Baby Jesus and all the orphans, we wonder what possessed the creators of this nightmareish webcam as they slaved away at the drawing board. Something nasty with horns, a wicked headache and really bad taste in art, I reckon. Let’s see—take one webcam (pretty standard USB 2.0, 1.3 Mpix little number, with lights and a microphone), decorate it with a plaster surround in the skull and bones motif, add a spot of grass and a few bricks (why?). Then finish it off with a cobra, and bugger off back to the Fifth circle of Hell. Should appeal to at least one uber-goth teenager with $61.50 to spare. turntable watch spins me right round like a record, baby
Vinyl DJs and turntablists rejoice, for here is a watch that’s a perfect reflection of you and your musical stylings. Designed by FludWatches, the TableTurns watch has a face that looks like a miniaturized version of the classic Technics 1200 turntable. While all the visual details are there, don’t expect to scratch any tiny records on yours. The only part of this turntable that rotates is the clock hands. To top off the look, each watch ships inside its own miniature flight case. The TableTurns watch comes with either a black leather or stainless steel band, and is available from TurntableLab for just $59.
