Get your MacBook Air on Tuesday
I’m sure that some of you out there are eagerly awaiting the launch of the MacBook Air. Come on, someone has to be excited about it. No, I’m no Apple hater (quite the opposite actually), I’m just disappointed in this particular product. I really do believe that Apple could have done so much better. Anywho, for those that can’t wait to get their hands on one, your wait should soon be over. According to sources, the tiniest of mobile Macs should be hitting Apple Stores as early as Tuesday (possibly Wednesday). If you wander into your local store today there’s a good chance that you’ll see banners and promotional material littered about. (Read the full post about ‘Get your MacBook Air on Tuesday’…)

Mini shopping cart for tiny groceries, office supplies
Although the product page shows these cute mini shopping carts being used to hold pens, sticky notes, and other office must-haves, there’s really no reason why the 6″ x 5.5″ x 3.75″ baskets couldn’t hold miniature-sized candy bars, cherries or grapes, or whole peppercorns. It isn’t clear whether the wheels spin, but how fun would it be if they did? Available now in blue and red for $9.95 each. Via Nerd Approved. NEC’s Liquid Flask Phone Shows Exactly How Much Battery is Left [Cellphones]
We don’t have many details, but this NEC flask phone seems to be a combination of being liquid-powered and touch-screened, and is so crazy advanced that we think it’s probably a prototype. According to NEC, however, it’s going to be released sometime in 2008. We think it’s cool that the liquid inside will drain as you’re using the phone, allowing you to see just how much power you have left. Here’s to hoping this isn’t a Japan-only release. Scientists Discover How to Neutralize Cow Farts; Your Farts Next, God Willing [Environment]
Sure, Hummers are bad for the environment, but do you know what else is? Cow farts. Yep, the methane in cow farts contributes to a surprisingly-high 5% of all global warming gasses out there, with methane being 22 times more potent at capturing atmospheric heat than carbon dioxide. The good news? A couple of Japanese scientists seem to have stumbled upon a way to neutralize this problem. Costing about $1 per day per cow, some simple food additives that include a blend of nitrates and the amino acid cysteine could greatly suppress the methane production in a cow’s stomach, making their emissions much more earth-friendly. Nikon’s New SLR Leaked, the D60 [Leakage]
Ooh, it looks like someone has snuck up behind Nikon and lifted her skirt before she was set to show off her goodies at PMA. (Was that opening sexist? Yeah, it was. But imagine if we used a male metaphor. There would be vomit and tears). The big news? Nikon is releasing the new D60 DSLR. It’s got the same body design as the existing D40 (pictured here), features 10.2MP, Nikon’s 3D Color Matrix Metering II system, Active D-Lighting for adjustable shadow detail, other integrated retouch settings and some pretty extreme dust prevention. In addition to a sensor cleaner, the D60 includes a Integrated Dust Reduction System that constantly chambers air away from the imaging sensor. Dead US Spy Satellite Hurtling Towards Earth; Where’s Your Car Parked? [Spy Game]
A anonymous government official warned that a US intelligence satellite has lost power and could crash to earth sometime in February or March. When pushed on the matter, a National Security Council spokesman said this: “Appropriate government agencies are monitoring the situation. Numerous satellites over the years have come out of orbit and fallen harmlessly. (Read the full post about ‘Dead US Spy Satellite Hurtling Towards Earth; Where’s Your Car Parked? [Spy Game]’…)

BlackBerry Pearl 8120

Posted on: 28, Jan

IT Reviews has a review of the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 and writes, “While RIM is certainly hoping to open up new markets with the Pearl 8120, the 2-megapixel camera is likely to be a little underpowered for many consumers’ tastes, and the lack of hardware-based music playback controls will be a turn-off for those with access to more consumer-oriented media playing mobiles. The absence of 3G may also be an annoyance, though fast e-mail download and browsing is helped by the support for EDGE which we tried on O2’s network.”

Sony killing 80GB PS3, introducing 120GB or 160GB model with Dual Shock 3?
Posted Jan 28th 2008 8:50AM by Joshua TopolskyFiled under: GamingAccording to Ars Technica, Sony has some big plans for a PlayStation 3 refresh, starting with a phase-out of the 80GB model. According to an “inside source” — which Ars claims has been consistently right on video game-related predictions — the console-maker’s new plot is starting to take shape, holding fast to a two-SKU approach on packages, upping the hard drive capacity on systems, and including the Dual Shock 3 controller. The new bundles will take the high / low road, with the source stating that the 40GB model will remain on shelves, while the 80GB, Spider-Man 3-inclusive system will disappear, only to be replaced with a 120GB or 160GB configuration.
