MacBook Air’s custom-built CPU going PC?
Posted Jan 31st 2008 7:42AM by Thomas RickerFiled under: Laptops That special Intel processor found in the MacBook Air could be getting a lot less special. PC Advisor, citing “a source familiar with Intel’s plans,” claims that a pair of PC makers will use the MBA processor. Not that this would be unexpected. The custom-built 1.6GHz and 1.8GHz Intel procs remember, are 60% smaller and consume less power than the typical Core 2 Duo while using the same 65-nm manufacturing processes. Asus announces E-TV, E-DT, E-Monitor
Asus will be adding to the lineup of Eee products, no longer will it just be limited to the much talked about ultra-portable Eee PC laptop. Asus will begin offering LCD TV’s, a desktop PC and all-in-one style computer similar to the iMac and XPS One. The LCD TV line is going to enter the larger than 42-inch market and is expected to retail for no higher than $200 more than competing brands. They will “integrate the Linux-based PC functionality of other Eee PC products,” and are looking for a September launch. The desktop PC will be the E-DT and will initially feature an Intel Celeron processor with later models to use Intel’s Shelton’08 platform with Diamondville processors and the 945GC chipset. Hands-on with the Canon EOS Rebel XSi DSLR
Posted Jan 31st 2008 2:10AM by Steven KimFiled under: Digital Cameras We got our hands on what’s probably one of the most anticipated cameras of the show, the Canon EOS Rebel XSi DSLR. The predecessor XTi model was crazy successful, so smart money says that the step up to a 3-inch live view LCD, 12.2-megapixel CMOS sensor, 9-point AF and Canon’s DIGIC III processing will help continue the trend. That’s a lot of features packed into this “starter” DSLR from Canon. (Read the full post about ‘Hands-on with the Canon EOS Rebel XSi DSLR’…)

Concepts by Seungchan Leebeg beg to differ!
Green seems to be the buzzword these days. And as all gadgets try to beat each other at getting sleeker and slicker, there’s no dearth of visionaries who are trying to give a natural twist to them simultaneously. Take Designer Seungchan Lee’s CulArt (Read Cool Art) concepts and you’ll instantly get the hang of what I’m saying. This design for a cell phone are all about retro look combined with all that’s modern in tech. The exterior of cell phone is wood-paneled but this façade hides all the typical smartphone features: touch-screen, MP camera, Bluetooth and so on. And to take the retro feeling just a bit ahead, the Bluetooth headset uses old-school knobs instead of the modern embedded buttons. JVC today announced a pair of new high definition Everio hard disk camcorders, JVC GZ-HD6 and GZ-HD5 HD, which are 45 percent smaller than JVC’s previous top-end HD camcorder, the GZ-HD7, without any sacrifice in image quality. In addition, they offer 1080p 60 frame per second output via HDMI 1.3 with x.v.Color. Both camcorders offer a long recording time in 1920 x 1080 Full HD — 10 hours for the 120GB GZ-HD6 and five hours for the 60GB GZ-HD5. Sigma’s DP1 DSLR in a compact’s body (almost) shipping this Spring
Posted Jan 31st 2008 1:47AM by Thomas RickerFiled under: Digital Cameras Why hello darlin.’ As we had hoped, Sigma’s DP1 just got a release date. Come Spring, we’ll finally see what that 14 megapixel FOVEON X3 sensor found in Sigma’s SD14 DSLR can do in a compact’s body. That’s about 7 to 12 times larger than the sensor found in ordinary compacts. The biggest compromise you’ll be making though, is with the lens. A fixed, 16.6-mm F4 lens designed exclusively for the DP1 illuminates each 7.8μm pixel on that 20.7 x 13.8-mm sensor. If you’re still game then rounding things out are Sigma’s new “TRUE” image processing engine, a 2.5-inch LCD, pop-up manual flash, hot shoe, manual or 9-point autofocus modes, and QVGA movie recording to SDHC cards.
