Rock Band came out a couple months back, but it’s still quite popular. It recently reached 1 million sales, which is not quite at the level of Guitar Hero yet, but there’s something to be said about it. The title is seeing regular releases of new tracks, which is effectively turning the game into its own platform, and in a couple weeks, the standalone drum kit will be made available, which means it’ll be cheaper than ever for Guitar Hero fans to get the band back together. I think a recent jam session shows why gamers should consider picking up an Xbox 360 and Rock Band, even if that’s the only title they are interested in. E-TEN officially dropped two new phones for their Glofish brand, and they look impressive. E-Ten’s Glofish brand is getting sexier and these new phones are the latest proof. These new phones are Pocket PC phones geared to always connected freaks like me rather than business folk. Both models feature HSDPA, WiFi and GPS. The V900 features mobile tv, a first for Pocket PC phones. It supports DVB-H, DVB-T, TDMB and DAB broadcasting standards. Like HTC, E-TEN developed it’s own touch-based User Interface that will be unveiled at the show. Expect this phone to ship in the second half of the year. George Lucas’ birthday is May 14, and I found him the perfect gift months in advance. As you can see, the Maxablaster isn’t your ordinary flashlight, and appears to be plucked right out of the Star Wars Universe. The Maxablaster is a homemade flashlight by Ducth engineer Ralf Ottow that produces 38-million candle power. You can use that to create a lightsaber so powerful that Jedi Master Yoda looks like a wimp. I can just see him: “Mmm, size matters not, no more will I say”. A light from the Maxablaster can illuminate a cloud four miles up in the sky, but I’m not certain why I would want to do that. This light is so bright that it can literally melt skin. The U.S. Navy has recently installed an electro-magnetic laboratory rail gun which looks set to be the largest of its kind ever built. This 32-megajoule weapon is capable of heaving projectiles at Mach 7, allowing it to shoot 10 times farther than contemporary naval guns with its 220 mile range. The projectile will hit at Mach 5, whereby the target will be obliterated with kinetic energy instead of conventional explosives. I guess those Rangers in Quake are a really tough breed since a rail shot can’t do you in as long as your health remains at 100 and you carry an armor shard with you.
