Despite it’s apparent simplicity, SpinWine performs a set of complex actions as the wine circulates around the small open cup chamber and through the double helix into your glass. The improvement in flavour and scent occurs because of the structural changes brought about by the unique process. Numerous experiments has perfected the exact size of the cup and the spiral funnel achieving the desired softness of the wine. When wine is spun in this way, it goes through a process of oxidizing and structural reforming causing chemical changes that affect both the flavors and the texture. In our last poll, we asked you how long you can do without your cell phone. Here are the results: I was a little surprised that so many people said they could leave behind their cell phones for an entire week. Among the “other” answers were: one month, one minute, never, and forever. I would put myself in the 15-minutes category, but only when my daughter is at home. Otherwise, maybe 5 minutes. Our new poll asks about your ideal Valentine’s Day gift. Take it here. Tags: video, cameras, hdtv, games (Read the full post about ‘Popgadget polls’…)

Posted Feb 11th 2008 12:00AM by Ryan BlockFiled under: Cellphones, GPS Europeans looking for a lower-end GPS-equipped HTC phone have another option today, in the form of the P3470, previously known as the Pharos. While it only has quad-band EDGE and a 200MHz CPU, you can at least expect the usual complement of a 2 megapixel camera, 256MB ROM / 128MB RAM, microSD, Bluetooth 2.0, and a roomy enough 2.8-inch QVGA flush touchscreen (á la the Touch). Posted Feb 11th 2008 2:09AM by Darren MurphFiled under: GPS, WearablesWe’ve seen some pretty well equipped helmets in our day, but UMass Amherst student Brycen Spencer seems a touch more interested in safety advancements than integrated speakers. His concoction, dubbed the Wireless Impact Guardian (WIG), looks like your average helmet at first glance, but a quick look inside reveals electronics designed to sense an impact, judge if you’re conscious and dial for help if necessary. Essentially, an alarm is triggered upon impact, and if you’re not cohesive enough to disable it after 60 seconds, it automatically rings up 911 and beams out your location via GPS so that medical personnel can get moving.
