As our road networks become ever-busier around the world, the need for monitoring traffic grows. Currently, the main way traffic data is gathered is through permanent sensors on specific roads that are quite expensive.
Nokia has an idea for an alternative that would not only be cheaper, but also would mean every road would be opened up to monitoring without the need for any sensor installations. That idea revolves around the use of the mobile phone, GPS, and some intelligent software that turns your mobile phone into a traffic monitor as your drive.

Gear Live just posted a tip they have received from their sources about the iPhone will have flash support in the very near future. Currently, the iPhone and iPod touch do not support flash sites leaving some to be dissapointed in the web experience. Rumor was it was a hardware issue that prevented the support. Seems it was not a hardware issue, just negotiations according to the site. They speculate that the news of flash support will be combined with the SDK release we expect at the end of the month. Word on the street is folks have been hired for an Apple event at the end of this month. Apple is mum on the news. (Read the full post about ‘Will the iPhone flash? Rumor says any day now’…)

I know that whenever I get frustrated in a game, I tend to smash my mouse against the table out of frustration. There are other times where I felt like smashing the monitor as the computer just starts acting all funny as though it did not get any loving at all throughout the weekend. For those who release steam by tossing items, Philips might have taken the right route with this new patent application. (Read the full post about ‘Throwable Monitor Patent’…)

Although Apple has had considerable success with its iPhone in the past six months, Microsoft continues to dominate the field of smart phones. In that six month period, MS sold 14.3 million Windows Mobile devices and plans to hit 20 million by June.
Apple has sold 4 million iPhone in the same time and many attribute this to the undeniable cool factor of the device. It’s sleek, it’s sexy and it’s about to have more competition. Microsoft announced today a deal in which Redmond will acquire Danger Inc., makers of the popular Sidekick mobile devices.
The acquisition poses a serious threat to Apple’s industry of cool as the Sidekick is one of the iPhone’s primary competitors.

My last blackout was a long, long time ago; so long ago that I cannot remember when it happened. Do I need a backup lighting system? I probably don’t but I have a little brother who still bears the scar of an encounter with a mosquito net bracket that he had when he was three years old. I now live in an earthquake prone country, so it is probably a good idea to get prepared, so that I can have some lights come on around me when my apartment falls to pieces around me. Posted Feb 12th 2008 8:47AM by Paul MillerFiled under: Digital CamerasThe Apple Store is back online with Aperture 2 for $199 but little else. While Aperture 2 is certainly a boon to the pro photographers among us, it seems abundantly clear that this Tuesday isn’t bringing you a MacBook Pro update, which fills us with great sadness. We were also hoping for that Apple TV (take 2) update to finally hit, or perhaps a MacBook spec bump, but no dice there either. Perhaps this whole “unreasonable optimism” thing is overrated.Tags: Ogg, mobile devices, mobiles, hdtv (Read the full post about ‘Apple releases Aperture 2, no MacBook Pro updates in sight’…)
