Bluetooth mod comes to the 5G iPod
Posted Feb 21st 2008 2:28PM by Nilay PatelFiled under: Portable Audio We already thought that 4G iPod Bluetooth mod was pretty sweet, but Fstedie has managed to top himself, cramming a BT adapter into a 5G video ipod without altering the stock appearance, apart from that clear third-party faceplate. The basics of the hack are pretty similar — replace the hard drive with a CF card, wire up a Bluetooth adapter — but the cramped internals of the 5G case makes it much more difficult to pull off, apparently. Radio Alarm Clock with Hidden Camera
What is the use for an alarm clock that features a concealed camera? To spy on other people without them knowing? Right… If you really want to do the whole spying scene, one of the best options is to use this Clock Radio Camera with built in SD recorder. All the data is recorded into the SD card, which can afterwards be easily transferred to your computer. In order to save memory space, the camera is activated by motion, which means that you’ll get to see all the “important” scenes pretty quickly. Priced at $500 in black and white, or $600 in color - both models include a SD memory card with 512MB. (Read the full post about ‘Radio Alarm Clock with Hidden Camera’…)

USB Vacuum Mouse cleans up after you

I really don’t know what it is with Japanese companies that makes them want to make the strangest combo gadgets in the world. I almost picture them having a wall with various gadgets listed on it. All they do is pick either keyboard or mouse, then throw a dart and see what crazy device they should combine. It looks like this time they picked mouse and vacuum cleaner. I don’t know about you, but I keep my mousing area fairly clean. While my desk may be cluttered most of the time, I try to make sure it is a crumb-free zone, for obvious reasons. However, if you’re one that loves nothing more than to hover over your desk and eat potato chips all day, you might find a mouse with a built-in vacuum cleaner to be quite handy. Asus delays U2E launch, wants other products to ride its coattails
Posted Feb 21st 2008 11:29AM by Donald MelansonFiled under: Laptops It looks like those in North America eager to get their hands on Asus’ sleek new leather-bound U2E ultraportable will have to wait a little while longer, although it’s not clear exactly how long. There’s apparently no production delays or other problems with the laptop, however, with Asus instead rather frankly fessing up that its holding back on the laptop simply so it can launch some other products alongside it. In case you missed it, the U2E (also known as the U2) boasts an 11-inch LED-backlit display, a Core Duo ULV processor and a 32GB SSD drive, all of which combine for some expectedly strong battery life while still maintaining some decent performance — and no doubt a lofty price tag as well. PicoZ Apache Micro Helicopter

PicoZ Apache Micro Helicopter

PicoZ has come up with a fair bit of micro helicopters in the past, but this time we have the Apache version to relive war stories from the comfort of your home. The Apache’s potent micro motors are powered by a lightweight lithium polymer battery, giving flight times of up to 10 minutes from a 30 minute charge. Once you get the hang of the controls you’ll be shocked and awed by this khaki-colored contraption. Speaking of which, you control the airborne action via a twin channel, wide-beam infra-red transmitter that doubles up as a charger. Old-style petrol-driven monsters? No thanks! Would you purchase a toy for your kid knowing that this will actually end up annoying you? (Read the full post about ‘PicoZ Apache Micro Helicopter’…)

Windows Home Server bug corrupts iTunes, Zune, lots of other apps
Posted Feb 21st 2008 11:57AM by Nilay PatelFiled under: Desktops, Media PCs, StorageUh-oh — it looks like the nasty Windows Home Server bug that corrupts data affects quite a few more apps than Microsoft initially let on. The company’s just updated the WHS support note to include reports of data corruption when using iTunes, the Zune software, WinAmp, WMP 11, Photoshop, and a host of other applications — and the problem’s expanded in scope as well, now affecting files saved to the server in addition to files edited on the server. Tailors Steam Press

Ironing can be quite the pain, especially when you’re already in a rush trying to get ready for office only to discover that your shirt is all creased since you failed to maintain an iron (pun intended) discipline where house chores are concerned. This is the professional-grade digital steam press with a pressing surface that is more than seven times larger than most handheld irons, reducing ironing time by up to 50%. Pressing is controlled with an automatic digital monitoring system to ensure consistent results based on the kind of fabric (nylon, silk, rayon, wool, cotton, or linen) you select on the instrument panel. A simple lowering of the handle produces more than 100 lbs. (Read the full post about ‘Tailors Steam Press’…)
