The Soft Phone concept is made up of a series of discs with electronic fabric stretched in between, allowing one to use a combination of tactile gestures like squeezing to hang-up. The fibers used are fine enough and optically clear, allowing light energy to pass through to display contextual menus that are simple to understand. Should you need to type a speedy text message, just unfurl the collapsible structure to reveal a QWERTY keyboard. Other elements of the Soft Phone like the antenna, battery, camera and micro-electronics are all stored within a tiny clip that is made of soft, squeezable, stress-reducing silica. Strange thing a receiver was included in this concept - hasn’t everyone moved on to wireless technolo (Read the full post about ‘Soft Phone Concept’…)

Toki, a Japanese product, is a supplement, that claims to replenish the collagen in your skin. Now, how does collagen that you drink make its way through your digestive system to replenish collagen in your skin? I thought this would be a good question for our friends over at The Beauty Brains website (real scientists who answer questions about beauty products). Lately, Japanese flat TV manufacturers have been quite busy forming strategic alliances to control their investments, gear up for sharp price declines due to competition and meet the growing demand for flat TVs worldwide. Following Pioneer’s decision to outsource their plasma panels is a new joint venture between Sony and Sharp. Under this partnership, Sony will own 34% of Sharp’s $3.5 billion LCD panel manufacturing plant which is expected to be completed in March 2010. Sharp will control 66% share in the soon-to-be world’s largest LCD factory. Since Sony is currently buying their lcd panels in bulk from Samsung Electronics in South Korea, this strategic alliance will give Sony more control over production runs to secure steady supply and minimize its dependence to its current supplier. Typically, Geek.com does not cover many DVD reviews, but “Turok: Son of Stone” is an exception. The animated movie is based off the videogame character Turok, and we’ve covered him extensively. We spoke to the game’s studio head, Josh Holmes, followed how Turok was developing behind the scenes, and were totally psyched for the game’s release. Unfortunately, we were unhappy with how the videogame Turok turned out. Unfazed, Geek.com took on “Turok: Son of Stone.” “Turok: Son of Stone” is animated much more like “G.I. Joe” than the CGI work of the movies out of Pixar studios, which sometimes resemble videogames and vice versa. (Read the full post about ‘Review: Turok: Son of Stone DVD’…)

In quite possibly the best lifestyle image every by ASUS, here we have an image that begs, “ASUS will put you to sleep.” Or perhaps, “toxic fumes from the Nova will knock you out!” Unfortunately, they were trying to convey how quiet this puppy is. The unit, unlike the photo, looks very interesting. The Nova-P22 is a bit of an odd duck: part laptop/part desktop. It has the built-in speakers, built in connectivity, form factor of a laptop but the Intel Core 2 Duo Desktop processor and super quiet performance of a desktop. ASUS aims this unit to fit to your space constraints and took some care in making this unit very attractive in either a piano or glossy pearl white. A docking station is available.
