We post a lot of concept designs here at the Lab. Most will never make production, but that doesn’t stop us from hoping. In the case of Cannondale’s ON concept, overwhelming popular demand means the bike company will actually be putting the folder into production. Previously named the "Jacknife," the innovative bike has grown up into a rather hot looking beast. The current photos show that it still uses single arms instead of forks (the rear one is a pivot to fold the bike), and it now has a much cooler-looking matte-black paint job. Full details are still not available, but Cannondale’s Torgny Fjeldskaar says "Stay tuned." We will. (Read the full post about ‘Cannondale Jacknife Concept Is ON’…)

Following the decision to stop the production of its hd dvd product line, Toshiba is about to declare a $986 million loss (100 billion yen). Declaring the said amount as loss will pull down the company’s full-year operating profit to $2.43 billion (250 billion yen) which is short of its projected profit for this year. When Toshiba decided to pull the plug on its HD DVD production, the company was not expecting that it would be force to implement changes in its production line. Neither did the company expect that it would incur other charges that would multiply the $486 million (50 billion yen) that it previously expected to lose. Take-Two announced its financial results for the 1st quarter ending January 31. The company was less than spectacular with net revenue down from US$277.3 million this time last year to $240.4 million. The net loss for the company was $38 million compared to $21 million last year.
There was good news for gamers, however, with the top announcement/confirmation being that BioShock 2 is definitely in development and scheduled for a 4th quarter 2009 release. Illusion Softworks has also been purchased, giving the company exclusive access to series such as Hidden & Dangerous.

The guys at Gizmodo have got their hands on the hacked 2.0 firmware for the iphone and have posted a video of it in action, actually running on the iPhone itself.
This hack is the one we detailed earlier today, and in theory is not breakable by Apple. Just to rub salt into the wounds, Giz have the iPhone running on the T-Mobile network. Nice work, guys.

USB Flash Drives are very handy when wanting to cart information around. The problem many face is keeping things in order. The SpaceStation is built by a company named Ultra and has 6 USB flash drive slots on the back of it. The SpaceStation is credit card sized and acts as a USB hub where 6 of their drives connect in to it. Each drive can store 2GB of data making a total of 12GB of storage on the SpaceStation being made available. Unfortunately the drives do not show up as one large drive, but rather, just show up as six individual drives. So you do not forget what is on each drive, a bunch of labels have been provided to label up the contents such as a “music” drive, “video” drive etc… The 12GB version costs $89.99 with a cheaper 6GB version running at $59.99. Most pictures of food on the menu are misleading, if that’s one thing I have learnt from eating out in restaurants. TEC Japan helps to flesh out 2D images into a 3D format, helping eaters know exactly what they’re getting into via a 3D digital menu located right on their table. This digital menu even features a novelty function that places a 3D beef patty whenever it detects a hamburger bun placed on the menu. No idea on when this technology will be made available to restaurants, but it sure makes for a great conversation starter if you’re feeling awkward on that first date of yours. O2 has rolled out a new Windows Mobile smartphone known as the Xda Atmos. Smartphones of similar calibre are pretty much in the same boat these days when it comes to specifications and form factor - you find the hidden QWERTY keyboard when the unit remains closed, revealing itself by sliding outwards. The Xda Atmos is actually the HTC S730 repackaged, and has also seen action in Japan as the X03HT courtesy of Softbank. (Read the full post about ‘O2 Xda Atmos’…)
