Fashion and technology often share a rather uneasy relationship with one another, but time and effort has proven that both parties are willing to move to an agreement. Mimoco, the Boston-based manufacturer of its Mimobot designer USB flash drives has just announced its new tokidoki Mimobot collection that is in line with the company’s goal of ‘bringing style and soul to personal tech devices’. This series holds the distinction of being the first fashion-oriented release from Mimoco, and could be the turning point where USB flash drives are transformed into everyday fashion accessories for the masses. Television is coming to AT&T customers in just over a month, courtesy of the LG Vu (essentially an un-badged LG Prada) and MediaFLO. AT&T announced its intention to use the Qualcomm-owned service last year, but has apparently been waiting for both the network to support streaming TV and for a handset to watch it on. “[It’s] a brand new service on a brand new network, and two brand new devices.” said AT&T’s Mark Siegel We wonder, though, if AT&T should bother. The kind of people comfortable viewing video on a handheld device are likely to be those already ignoring television in droves. There is plenty of online content, from video podcasts to YouTube, and it’s free. (Read the full post about ‘Mobile TV Coming to AT&T In May’…)

As someone who has uploaded a few videos in YouTube myself, I sometimes long for the ability to see more detailed information about my uploaded video’s viewers. I’d like to know where visitors came from, how much time they spent going from one of my videos to another, is there a specific time of day when they stay longer than usual watching my videos, etc. And just recently YouTube has revealed that it now lets users do exactly that, providing a Google Analytics-like service with Youtube Insight. With YouTube Insight, uploaders can now “see how often their videos are viewed in different geographic regions, as well as how popular they are relative to all videos in that market over a given period of time.” It’s really just as simple as applying the principles of regular web site tracking programs for YouTube page views. In this day of MP3s, turntables have been given a modern update to keep up with the times while retaining that aura from the past. The Vestax Guber CM-02 USB Turntable is drop dead gorgeous, allowing you to convert all your old favorites from vinyl into MP3 format if you haven’t yet done so already. There is something about the glossy ipod-white color that graces the CM-02 which makes it all the more desirable. Prices vary from $233 to $499 depending on which side of the pond you’re at, so do the smart thing and look it up online for the best deals. This drum table will certainly get on your nerves much more than that pesky colleague who has developed this nasty habit of drumming his fingers on the table throughout the entire day. Well, at least this drum table produces way more authentic sounds, but seriously - unless you’re a modern musician who finds inspiration from weird gizmos, I suggest giving this a pass since your own kids might drive you mad with this new ‘toy’.

Filed in archive Photography by jim on March 28, 2008 Most people who have a digital camera use it, among other things, to take pictures of other people. How many times have you heard: "Smile", "Look into the camera", "Hold still", etc? Well those commands may be OK for a formal portrait, and those are just fine, but this type of picture doesn't really capture the essence of an individual. What you want is a picture that looks natural, not posed. For this type of shot you'll want your subject to do something other than to stare directly into the lens and have the result look like a mug shot. Posted Mar 28th 2008 4:35AM by Paul MillerFiled under: Displays, Transportation If those darn kids would get out of the way, what you’d see before you is a fancy new dashboard that Daihatsu teamed with Provision Interactive Technologies to build for its latest concept car. They’re calling it HLXX, and it’s pretty straightforward: there’s a traditional flat screen 2D dashboard that is used for all the usual driving infos, with a 3D holographic screen in front that overlays warnings or alerts so they’re more easily seen by the driver. Daihatsu hopes to have HLXX in production vehicles by 2012, but until then we suppose we’ll just have to pretend these gauges and dials on our dashboards are 3D. Oh wait.Tags: CD, lcd, hdtv, cameras (Read the full post about ‘Daihatsu and Provision building HLXX 3D holographic dashboard, the future’…)

For the millionth time I’ve been wondering, how come no one has ever put out a low-end phone with at least one high-end feature, like a 5-megapixel camera on a monochrome display candy bar, or an mp3 player in a cellphone-and-flashlight in one? Well, my wondering ends today, as Nokia has officially announced an expected Q2 release of the Nokia 6300i, an upgrade to the original slim Finn. Actually, not much has changed with the Nokia 6300i, design-wise and feature-wise. But I think the one thing it adds to the table will really help in changing the “game.” That’s because the Nokia 6300i is now equipped with Wi-Fi, and that lets it connect to wireless networks and make VoiP Internet calls. I admit the title of this post is a bit cryptic, but bear with me. If you own an inkjet printer, the short video referenced here is worth a look. In case you’re wondering why your printer may be running out of ink quicker than you think it should or maybe just plain not working, take a look as the author rips apart his own printer; this may be why.
