It’s official–Lenovo is out of the mobile handset business. Many people may not even have known that Lenovo had a handset business (the handsets were sold primarily in China), but PCWorld reported that Lenovo completed the sale of its handset unit on March 31st.
Lenovo’s mobile handset division had been suffering over the last year, which drove the company to consider selling it. According to PCWorld, handset shipments for the mobile unit declined 31 percent in the quarter ending in December of last year. The sale will be reflected in the company’s latest quarter which ended March 31st.
There are just too many handset businesses out there for Lenovo to compete.

How many times have you sat and pondered whether or not it was daylight outside? Unless you spend the better part of your days living underground, chances are that you don’t think about this very often. Sure, when you’re sitting in a cubicle after hours it may cross your mind, but is that enough to justify a watch that solely tells you whether the sun is up or down? Apparently for some people it’s worth coughing up $300,000 for a watch that does just that. Part of the reason that it is so expensive is that it is a unique timepiece that used Tourbillon movement, which is supposed to overcome the limitations imposed on the accuracy of watches by the earth’s gravity. Alcatel has unveiled the Sharper Image 909TSI a super light weight candy bar phone covered in 24k gold or Platinum. When I was a young kid, I loved getting those temporary tattoos and making myself look like a cool grownup. Of course no self-respecting adult would get inked-up with the kind of artwork one would find in those quarter machines by the checkout lanes. So if your kids want tattoos, why not make them some that actually look cool?
With this tattoo paper, you can print off any design you want, and apply it to your skin just like the temporary ones you find in the store. This would also be a good way to try out a design before you have it permanently inked on.

We just got a special surprise on our doorstep this afternoon in the form of an E100 from iriver. You’ve already seen the review, so we won’t bore you with a full rehash, but suffice it to say that this thing is well built but feels suspiciously lightweight — not to mention inexplicably thick. The software is all nice and responsive, though it takes a bit of getting used to the d-click interface, and while you’re certainly not going to get much mileage out of the built-in speaker, it is a nice touch. The screen is great straight on, but suffers from some viewing angle woes. (Read the full post about ‘iriver E100 hands-on’…)
