Asus to Release Intel-Based Eee in June at Computex
Our sister site Uberpulse has an exclusive (video) interview with H. C. Hung, the President of Personal Mobile Devices at ASUS. He confirmed that the intel-based ASUS Eee would be revealed in June, at Computex (Taiwan). We think that it will use Intel’s ATOM chip. What we do know is that the next Eee will come with either Windows or Linux and will have a larger display (which is already featured in the Eee update that we talked about here at Ubergizmo). In other Eee news: ASUS still struggles to meet the demand for the current Eee PC.RelatedWhy Are PC Manufacturers so Afraid of the Asus Eee? Asus HDTV USB Tuner Works with the Eee PC
Asus Eee owners now have access to a USB HDTV Tuner from Asus, with Linux drivers! It’s a requirement as the majority of Eee users run the pre-installed linux. The catch is: the My Cinema U3100 Mini tuner supports DVB-T & DMB-TH, two TV broadcast standards unsupported in the USA. At the moment, it has been reported that H.264 decoding is missing, which is a real problem with HDTV broadcasting… and that recording isn’t possible, which is probably OK, given the 2GB or 4GB of storage that the computer has. Finally, note that the Eee 7” display is not really “HD” anyways. (Read the full post about ‘Asus HDTV USB Tuner Works with the Eee PC’…)

Sony Bravia E4000 HDTV is an Art Piece, Really!
The Sony Bravia E4000 has been created to look like a picture frame, so that it looks great on your wall. When guests are around, you can create a photo slideshow, turning it into the most expensive photo frame of 2008. Of course, we love the idea and we love how thin the TV seems to be. However, when watching movies, it feels like the white frame could be distracting (the aluminum frame of my current HDTV certainly is). Fortunately, several frame colors are available. Nikon Coolpix S52c WiFi Compact Camera
Nikon just released the Coolpix S52 and S52c compact cameras. The S52c is the more interesting one because it has integrated WiFi hardware allowing it to upload content to the web directly. The question is: how easy is it to setup, how does it deal with changing networks or protected networks. Hopefully, it will be compatible with something else than myPicturetown.com (Nikon’s site) and access FTP or even Flickr… If not that would suck. Hey, we hate lawsuits just as much as the next guy, but we’re finding it hard to fault Verizon for this one. Verizon and Time Warner Cable arrived in court on Wednesday to settle a tiff over some ads that Verizon claims offer up misleading info about Verizon’s FiOS service. Listed among the complaints include supposed false implications by TWC that FiOS requires a satellite dish, doesn’t include phone, broadband and video, and that Time Warner’s network is better. Time Warner Cable is naturally calling the lawsuit “without merit.” Verizon wants TWC to stop running the ads and issue a retraction, as well as compensate them for lost revenue.
