Web changes rules for new music: One artists perspective
It is no secret that MySpace has completely changed the music scene.  Arguably, the artists MySpace music page is more important than their website.  But other sites are creeping up and taking advantage of something MySpace has not mastered:  new music. Sites like thesixtyone.com and others are helping new artists get noted.  By allowing voting and an incentive to listen to new stuff, these sites are creating fans for little known acts from all over the world.  Take Temple Scene, a two person ensemble from the UK.  Their songs have done very well on thesixtyone.com and on MySpace.  I had the chance to get the bands input on the value of other sites that focus on new music. Sony’s stylish Bravia E4000 ‘picture’ HDTV
Sony sure knows how to make pretty things. Case in point, the new Sony Bravia E4000 series of HDTV’s can be easily mistaken as a digital picture frame to the untrained eye. In fact, the E4000 is both a digital frame and a HDTV. When turned off, the panels can act as a digital photo viewer, capable of loading photos from a thumb drive. If you don’t have any favorite photos handy to display, the TV comes pre-loaded with six works of art, including Pop Art and Van Gogh paintings. The new line will be available in 26-inch, 32-inch and 40-inch sizes. Spec-wise, the panels will feature: the Bravia 2 processing engine, Bravia Sync, integrated digital/HDTV tuner, 178 degree viewing angle, 24p True Cinema, and 3x HDMI ports. Sennheiser is offering a trade-in program of sorts for your old headphones. Whether “new, old, broken or used” all you have to do is choose the style of headphones that you want to purchase, fill out their form, gather up your old headphones and mail them in. The value will range from $5 for Street Earbuds up to $25 for Noise Canceling models. So if you were thinking about replacing those nasty or broken headphones, Sennheiser may be worth checking out. The trade-in offer is valid from April 1 through July 31. (Read the full post about ‘Sennheiser offering cash for your old, broken headphones’…)

Gadgetell Review: Plantronics Calisto Pro Series
I have used my share of VoIP phones out there, so when Plantronics sent me the newish Calisto Pro Series, I didn’t have too high of expectations.  However I became impressed quickly with the great Bluetooth integration, among other features.  There are three ways you can talk on the phone (or Skype): speakerphone, on the handset, or on the included Bluetooth headset.  This amount of flexibility is a great thing to have when you’re in an office—or even at home—since you have the choice to go anywhere in your house.  So what if you want to sit in your living room, and the Bluetooth signal can’t make it that far?  Don’t worry, the headset is paired with the handset, so just bring the handset with you! Disney, iriver teach an old mouse new tricks, update the Mickey Mouse MP3 player
The most famous mouse of all time makes a dazzling comeback with an updated Mplayer Season 2. It now features 1GB of internal memory, USB 2.0 connectivity, a 3.5mm headphone jack and is available in 10 colorful variants. It is Windows 2000/XP/Vista compatible so you can pretty much just plug it in and be good to go in a minute. Aside from the 10 listed fruity colors on iriver Japan’s web site, where it is currently available for about $77, you may also opt to have a custom-made Swarovski crystal version or a military-style Camouflage version of it. I don’t know how well that’d work though. This music player is cute enough as it is. Via [dvice] Keep up with the latest gad (Read the full post about ‘Disney, iriver teach an old mouse new tricks, update the Mickey Mouse MP3 player’…)

When you were a kid, did your parents always hassle you about turning off the lights when you left a room? Well now that you have your own place, you probably understand exactly why they would tell you that. What’s more is that you also likely have a lot of gadgets around your desk that still use power even when you’re not using them. This is why Watt Stopper created the Isole IDP-3050.

This rather ordinary-looking power strip is designed to save power by shutting off gadgets when you aren’t around. The small wired box is actually a passive infrared sensor which will kill power to most of the outlets when you aren’t around.

Two of the outlets are not controlled by the sensor, which would be ideal for plugging in your PC.

That’s Fujitsu’s WoodShell concept PC. It joins an increasingly common trend of so called “natural” products already demonstrated by MSI, ASUS, Olympus, LG and others. No specs are provided on this feel-good piece. However, we presume it’s powered by the blood and tears wrung from the baby Gore’s heartbreak.
