Crucial announces availability of 32GB, 64GB solid state drives
We first learned about Crucial prepping SSD’s in both a 32GB and 64GB size back in early January, but at the time we were yet to learn about any pricing or a time frame for an actual release. Well it turns out the drives are now shipping and although they would make a nice upgrade for alot of notebooks on the market, their price is going to be a barrier for many folks. The 32GB model is retailing for $800, while the 64GB is a whopping $1,500. Its a shame because the drives are the notebook-sized 2.5-inch, which means, assuming you were comfortable enough to open up your notebook, would make a perfect replacement or upgrade drive. RIM Delays 3G BlackBerry Phone

RIM Delays 3G BlackBerry Phone
The upcoming 3G blackberry phone for AT&T from RIM has been delayed, moving the launch date to August from the originally planned June date. Not many reasons were given, but the main speculated one concerned AT&T’s thoughts about its call quality. Other folks prefer something more dramatic, claiming that AT&T is looking for a tech glitch as an excuse to make way for the Apple 3G iphone which will be released sometime this June, pretty much the same way blockbuster movies in the cinema are not released on the same week so that they don’t have to compete with the consumer for their dollars. Whatever it is, I just hope the 3G BlackBerry will boast some pretty noteworthy features. (Read the full post about ‘RIM Delays 3G BlackBerry Phone’…)

Glossy Black 3G iPhone found in Hong Kong as third-party case
The mother of all 3G iPhone rumors has been smashed, ladies and gentlemen, by none other than an Apple fanboy who happened to pass by a mobile phone accessories store in Hong Kong. While the rest of us here have been speculating (some even giggling) about the possibilities of a glossy black 3G iPhone coming in June, those in Hong Kong may already be aware that the photo of the alleged 3G iPhone on the Internet right now is absolutely and positively not a photo of the real thing. Because what the thing in the photo really was, according to the source of the image above, is none other than a glossy black custom iphone back case, which you can purchase for yourself right now if you were in Hong Kong. Toyota Racecar Simulator

Toyota Racecar Simulator
Safety is a top priority in any motorsports, and the same applies to Toyota who is involved in F1. The Japanese auto manufacturer has developed a computer simulation which recreates high speed accidents and their effects on human physiology. Known as Total Human Model Safety (THUMS), the FIA Institute and Toyota have managed to look into various serious injuries sustained in accidents which are difficult to measure with conventional crash-test dummies. Results from this study will be released as soon as it is completed, and it is hoped that this technology will help study high speed rear impact crashes in the FIA Formula One World Championship and Indy Racing League (IRL). Uno electric unicycle gets spiffy new body, still terrifying
by Donald Melanson, posted Apr 25th 2008 at 12:24PM Last we saw the Uno electric unicycle it was looking very much like the prototype it was, but as you can see above, it seems that the teenage engineers behind it have been doing anything but slacking in the ensuing months. As Motorcycle Mojo reports, the third incarnation of the vehicle recently made its debut at the 2008 National Motorcycle Show in Toronto, with it sporting some custom-made wheels, a stylin’ new body, and a few changes under the hood as well. That latter bit apparently even included a trip to a robotics and gyro expert in California, who helped to fine tune the two gyros the Uno uses for turning and forward and backward motion (something you probably want to get right). Swiss schools abandon Windows in favor of Ubuntu
Switzerland’s schools have announced they will stop using Windows and instead switch to the Linux operating system Ubuntu. Up until now the school system’s 9000 computers were set up to dual boot to Windows and Ubuntu. The country’s Department of Public Instruction has become serious fans of Open Source software. Their reasons are the money it saves them and the relief it gives students who may not be able to afford Microsoft’s expensive software packages such as MS Office. The director of the Media Service Schools, Manuel Grandjean, said the move would also “avoid providing captive customers for large companies.” The Swiss are not the first to make the switch. Canon’s National Parks Digital Photo Contest
Filed in archive Competition by jim on April 26, 2008 If you love outdoor photography, and you've never visited any of the USA's National Parks, then there's a treasure trove of photo opportunities waiting for you. I took the one above in Zion National Park during early November, 2006. I haven't been to many National Parks because I caught on to them too late in life; but the ones I've visited have provided me with all the "photo ops" I could have hoped for. Because of various medical problems, I haven't been able to get to the better parts of many parks so I know there's even more to be explored, a lot more.
