Mobile Choice reviews the Sharp 880SH and writes, “Capable of HSDPA internet speeds, the Vodafone handset is embedded with Google Maps, Radio DJ and Mobile TV. There’s also a two-megapixel camera, as well as a host of PIM tools including a voice recorder, expenses memo and a world clock…The HSDPA internet speeds allows you to enjoy the range of services on offer, including Google Maps, Mobile TV and the innovative Radio DJ. The external camera is nothing more than average, while the front facing camera is positively poor.” Read more about the Sharp 880SH. (Read the full post about ‘Sharp 880SH Review - Mobile Choice’…)

I recently spent 12 hours flying from England to Singapore, then another five flying to Australia. If I’d disembarked the plane to find out my luggage hadn’t completed the journey, I would have been a little unimpressed, to say the least. In fact, (knock on wood!) I’m been very lucky in my travels so far: the one time my luggage was misplaced, the airline found and delivered it to my door the very next day. But that experience was enough of a scare for me to relate to the 37 million (thirty.seven. MILLION!) people who lose their luggage every year, and never get it back. Trace Me is a luggage tracking device that keeps your details on file, for life. (Read the full post about ‘Trace Me keeps track of luggage’…)

BT hopes to make another entrance into the mobile market with a “blackberry-style” device whose main function is to send and receive email while accessing the Internet no matter where you are. This HTC-manufactured handset is said to be launched sometime this week in the UK, switching between BT’s wireless Home Hub and Vodafone’s network, depending on whether you’re indoors or outdoors. The handset will be accompanied by various BT broadband packages to suit your budget and needs. Hopefully this will fare better than the BT Fusion that was launched 3 years ago, garnering a mere 45,000 customers. (Read the full post about ‘BT aims for BlackBerry-style Device’…)

by Joshua Fruhlinger, posted May 6th 2008 at 9:57AM We had a little thumb-print orgy with the new HTC Touch Diamond immediately following its launch. Light and small, the Touch Diamond comes off as a unit with promise. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a while to get our hands on this via a US carrier, but Orange users in the UK will no doubt be pretty happy with this new handset, the first of its kind to use Windows Mobile 6.1.Check out the gallery below, complete with comments and interface walk-through. In what is a great first, Rock Port, Missouri became the first US town to be completely powered by wind energy. They now have 4 wind turbines generating 16 Gigawatts of power annually (they require about 13). Granted that Rock Port is a relatively small town with a population of under 1400, this move demonstrates that alternative energies are not just talk and dreams.

by Joshua Fruhlinger, posted May 6th 2008 at 7:15AM Here we are in London at the Soho Hotel with HTC, and we are among the first to see their new Diamond handset. While we thought we may see three new products in three different form factors, HTC Prez and CEO Peter Chou led-off the event by mentioning that they would be launching just one product today. He peppered his intro by talking about the Touch, so we were prepared to see an update on that product utilizing their TouchFLO tech. The device has some pretty nice interface tech that they’re calling TouchFLO 3D that heavily emphasizes one-touch browsing and single-finger dialing. They emphasized web accessibility, zoom-in navigation with “just one hand” and not too many fingers. (Read the full post about ‘HTC unveils new HTC Touch Diamond, “not too big, not too small”’…)

Yes, Minority Report–that Tom Cruise flick. Apparently, a collaborative project called the Micro Autonomous Systems and Technology (MAST) Collaborative Technology Alliance is developing spy robots inspired by the said Holloywood movie. Britain-based BAE Systems is one of the major collaborators for the project. In fact, the company just signed a 19 million deal with the US Army to develop surveillance micro-robots. And these micro-robots are not just ordinary robots–they’re to be designed in the makings of insects, arachnids, and small animals. The first design on the line seems to be the spider which you can see on the picture. Others include bees, geckoes, hummingbirds, and flies among others. Parrot’s latest digital photo frame is possibly the most expensive digital photo display that you could find on the market today. And aside from the fact that it was designed by an interior designer named Andree Putman, there’s nothing extra ordinary about this frame to merit such a high price tag. Putman was also responsible for interior design works on some posh hotels, so if that fact excites you then you may be pleased by the digital frame she designed for Parrot which is retailing for a whopping $500. And what do you get from that price? Nothing much really, except for a typical digital photo frame that was built with a large plastic bezel. Filed in archive Digital Photo Sites by jim on May 03, 2008 With all the choices available today choosing the right digital camera or accessories for it can be a bit overwhelming. People with limited time, and indeed, even those with the time, can find it frustrating to weed through the numerous ads, reports, and reviews on just a few cameras much less on a dozen or so to insure that the right camera will end up in your hands. I found that buying guide magazines are usually outdated before you buy them; at least as far as digital cameras are concerned, so the answer is online guides. Try "PCPhoto.com" for an up to date guide to digital cameras, and digital camera accessories. (Read the full post about ‘Online Digital Photography Buying Guides’…)
