Apple TV to get 3D Gaming Controller
Apple filed a new patent in 2006 which involves research on a 3D remote control system that will be available on the Apple TV, with the ultimate aim of delivering several features akin to multi-touch technology while mimicking the functionality of the Nintendo Wiimote. According to the patent, “the absolute x- and y-positions of [the] remote control can be used, for example, in video games to position a user’s character or to otherwise track the movement of the remote control in a user’s environment.” It can also “zoom into and out of an image or a portion thereof based on the absolute position of the remote control in the third axis”, making it seem to fit the photo and video browser components of Apple TV just fine. Vonage partners with Covad Communications to offer DSL
It seems like its been forever since we have posted anything Vonage related aside from patent disputes and personal changes that we almost forgot they were still around. This latest news however seems to be positive, Vonage and Covad Communications have announced a partnership that will allow Vonage to offer a DSL service. The new offering from Vonage will be a re-branded version of Covad’s DSL service and it will simply be called Vonage Broadband. The service is expected to be available by the end of this year and will offer download speeds of up to either 3.0 or 6.0 Mbps for home or small business customers, no mention of just how much this will set you back. Free Asus Eee PC
Everyone loves free stuff, and PowerupMobile.com aims to get a whole bunch of new customers by offering a free Asus Eee PC laptop whenever they sign up for T-Mobile’s mobile broadband package. That’s a pretty fine free gift to throw in, considering it retails for $399 a pop outside. The whole idea for this bundle (in addition to snaring customers in their web) would be to enable online connectivity anytime, anywhere. No Wi-Fi zone around? No problem! Just hook the Eee PC up to your USM modem and make use of T-Mobile’s Web ‘n’ Walk service. Tags: wireless, TV, Ogg, laptops (Read the full post about ‘Free Asus Eee PC’…)

China Mobile locks down Everest; serves snacks
If a torch climbs a mountain and no one is there to live blog it, or webcam it, or email home about it; did it really happen?  China Mobile insures all these things are possible thanks to their business office and internet cafe at 17,000 feet above sea level at the base of Mount Qomolangma.  Oddly or fantastically (your choice), users can pay bills, SIM change services and watch free films, in addition to other “new business experiences.” Because after a good climb to base camp, I usually get a hankering for a SIM change and review of my monthly texting charges. Gear4 - Portable iPod Speaker & Dock
Gear4 has presented their new audio product made for iPods, that combines a portable speaker and dock in one. To sum it up: there is a satellite speaker that can be detached from the dock itself, so you can take it anywhere you want. Obviously, the portable speaker isn’t as good as the dock in terms of sound quality, because you’re missing a 20W subwoofer if you use the lonely speaker. The Gear4 Duo ipod Speaker is priced at 150, and has a release date set for tomorrow, 8 May. The front section on its own is 18W, and has a flip-out dock connector that makes the whole speaker section flat for easy transport. The rumors continue, even more 3G iPhone images surface, now in white
LIke we have mentioned before, the 3G iPhone is one of those rumors that is only going to go away when the phone is actually announced, until then we are going to see more and more speculation. We have seen a few rumored images hit the web up till now, but these latest images are a first where the phone is no longer in black. As usual there is no way to confirm of deny these images, they are coming courtesy of a Chinese language discussion forum called WeiPhone.com. While my instinct tells me that these are not the 3G iphone, it does bring up a good question as to why Apple has not released the iPhone in more than one color similar to the ipod line? AT&T WiFi access now listed as “included” with iPhone
by Darren Murph, posted May 8th 2008 at 8:23AM We’re not exactly sure what was going on with that whole on-again / off-again love affair with iPhones having gratis access to AT&T WiFi hotspots, but we’re content with letting bygones be bygones. On the slightly tweaked iphone “Plans” page, the carrier now lists “Access to AT&T WiFi hotspots” as an included feature along with call forwarding, 3-way calling and Caller ID. Sure, it’s not a bona fide press release, but same difference, right? (Read the full post about ‘AT&T WiFi access now listed as “included” with iPhone’…)
