I’ve always wondered what I would do if I came into some vital information that needed to be hidden from prying eyes. You know the kind, the data that could potentially bring down the government and bring the world as we know it to a standstill. Sure, I have no idea how someone like me would come into such information, but I’ve seen enough movies to know it could happen. Thankfully I now know that I would hide it in an unused phone jack. This project requires a lot of skill and some steady hands. Then again if you’re the kind of super spy that needs this, you should be able to manage. What you’ll do is wire up a USB drive into the phone jack, which as you would imagine requires some seriously difficult soldering. Everyone and their brother has been sending in links about how there was a comment made by Chris Stephenson, the GM of Marketing for Zune, that mentioned that they are trying to find ways to mesh Danger and the Zune team. As of now it’s just a comment, and there’s no confirmation or discussion of a Zune Phone. Our guess is that Danger is being tapped for their UI experience because their operating systems have always been super intuitive and easy to use. But there’s always the possibility of a Zune Phone, but the question is “Would anyone buy one?”

Klipsch is a name synonymous with great sounding audio, and the Palladium P-39F doesn’t only offer superb audio but it does so with a clear conscience. I say so because it comes clad in a “Linia” veneer, which is available in three different finishes and proves to be a very close match to rare zebrawood. After all, it was carefully hand-selected and made from real trees in government-sanctioned controlled harvests - sounds more like a jam advertisement, hand-picked berries and all that jazz. The only drawback is the price - you would have to be loaded in order to afford the £7,685 asking price. (Read the full post about ‘Klipsch Palladium P-39F Speakers’…)

In a rather bizarre effort to protect sensitive company data, T-Mobile has announced that its Sarnia, Ontario call center employees will no longer be allowed to use pens, pencils, or note pads in the open. If they must used them, they are required to keep them in their locked desks between uses. Taking the new policy even further, they’ve also required that all photos and papers on cubicle walls be laminated so they can not be used to write on. While it’s easy to understand a company wanting to protect its data, this new policy is just a bit ridiculous. (Read the full post about ‘Pens, paper not welcome at T-Mobile call centers’…)

Green House has just released its GH-EXC-ESA2 card that increases the connectivity of your notebook. It will feature a couple of 3.0Gbps eSATA slots, a JBOD external drive, and support for RAID 0/1. Not only will it come in the older PCMCIA Type II model, there will also be a PCI Express version. Both devices have been certified to run on both Windows XP and Vista, so Mac owners are out of the loop yet again. Bummer! No idea on how much this costs, nor whether it will be available outside of Japan or not. (Read the full post about ‘Green House EXC-ESA2′…)

I know that New Year’s a distant memory by now, but surely some of you have decided to quit smoking back in January, but failed to do so until now? Chewing tobacco doesn’t quite make the grade for you, so what about the Gamucci Micro Electronic Cigarette? It looks like a cigarette, it tastes like a cigarette, it smokes like a cigarette, but it isn’t a cigarette, it contains no tobacco, and the “smoke” is just vapour. Containing state of the art micro-electronic technology this re-chargeable e-cigarette produces a real smoking experience without any of the deeply unpleasant side-effects of tobacco. As you inhale a tiny battery vapourizes liquid inside the cigarette producing smoke. (Read the full post about ‘Gamucci Micro Electronic Cigarette’…)

AT&T’s on-again-off-again free WiFi for the iPhone has finally been made official. The busy iPhone-user-about-town will be able to access AT&T hotspots around the country – all 17,000 of ‘em, including those in Starbucks (which hardly counts as free as you have to buy a cup of gravel stewed in water). A special Gadget Lab Imaginary Prize for the first reader who spoofs the user agent with a non-iphone browser and sends a screenshot (my email is at top right).
