by Paul Miller, posted May 17th 2008 at 4:40PM Most bug-inspired robots do a much better job of creeping us out than giving us the warm fuzzies, but this here Swashbot R/C robot from Crabfu is just too cute for words. It kind of looks like he’s trying to find his little robot buddies so they can sing a song about slushies before nap time, while simultaneously dragging a cinder block behind him. You know, cute. Video is after the break. (Read the full post about ‘Swashbot sashays his way into our hearts’…)

Check out the Cool 920 dual SIM phone - this one features a display that resembles one of the other LG handsets that have a flip display, giving you a horizontal point of view without having to turn the phone itself. Not only that, it can carry two SIM cards simultaneously, although I’m not sure how it is possible to carry out two conversations at once. Other features include Bluetooth connectivity, a 2 megapixel camera, GPRS and WAP support (now that’s a real shame - not even EDGE?), a microSD memory card slot as well as audio and video file format support. Guess its looks are all there is going for the Cool 920 - best you wait for other handsets from more reputable manufacturers. (Read the full post about ‘Cool 920 Dual Sim Phone’…)

Samsung and Sprint have declared that mobile WiMAX technology is ready to rock and roll where commercial service is concerned. While it is very close to commercialization, it remains to be seen whether the touted standards of performance will be able to live up to expectations. After all, it isn’t as though we consumers weren’t burnt by marketing claims in the past, right? Remember the PS2 and how it was supposed to render Toy Story 2 graphics? It seems that John Mayer may have some more connections than just with Apple, it looks like he is also in good with RIM as well. If you remember back in January he was lucky enough to get his hands on a macbook air before they were available to us regular folks, now its the recently announced and still unreleased blackberry Bold. Showing off the Bold on his site, he also gives a nice little statement about how the word “geek” is dead and goes on to mention that the Bold “has blazing fast 3G and twice the screen resolution, and the fonts look like something out of the New York Times.” I guess, if nothing else it at least has the geek seal of approval from John Mayer. by Darren Murph, posted May 17th 2008 at 8:46AM We’ll be frank — we really have no idea what Samsung’s getting at with its freshest Soul promotional video, but it’s certainly a fine piece of eye candy if nothing else. Put simply, the video shows a maniac darting about demonstrating ten optical illusions in just over two minutes, and in case you couldn’t guess, the Soul is saved for last. Should we have prefaced that bit with a spoiler warning? (Read the full post about ‘Samsung Soul promo video shows 10 optical illusions in 136 seconds’…)

At CES this year, Sony showed off their 1st OLED (Organic LED) TV that will go on sale, except it was a puny 11″ screen. It was a sweet looking TV though at 3mm thick and with a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. But who wants 11″ of OLED when they can get 50″ of Plasma for the same price? Now Samsung just showed off an 82″ OLED with backlighting. We may even start seeing some more reasonably sized screens coming to stores soon as well. Essentially, it’s not a question of technology but of economics - scale and cost. via TV Snob. (Read the full post about ‘Samsung shows off a 82″ OLED TV with Backlight’…)
