by Darren Murph, posted May 29th 2008 at 6:31AM It took Toshiba long enough to get its socket-infused Dynadock onto store shelves, and considering the rough reputation held by the vast majority of USB video docking stations out there, you’ve probably been holding back on this well-spec’d unit due to fear alone. If we just rang your bell, you’ll be glad to know the critics over at Trusted Reviews were able to spend some quality time with the device and test out all those features that may or may not work as advertised. Weight loss isn’t exactly one of my major priorities. It’s not that I couldn’t spare a few pounds (or a lot of few pounds, even), it’s just that with so much going on in my life right now, it seems like a I can’t find a spare second to sleep, let alone weigh myself and monitor food intake. Does this sort of mentality remind you of anyone? Health and physical well-being are on an upswing compared to the indulgence of the late-90s and early millennium years. People are starting to get back into their peak condition for health reasons, rather than sex appeal, even though that’s always a plus. But how can you work such a time-swallowing event into your traveling? (Read the full post about ‘Magellan Travel Scale’…)

The Nyko Charge Base 360 has started to ship to stores, offering an alternative charging solution for the Xbox 360 that features a drop-in charging and storage solution for up to a couple of wireless controllers, making this a first charging solution of its kind in the world. Sounds like the more efficient charging method compared to USB as well as disposable batteries that will definitely add up in the long run (not to mention the environmental impact). Each Nyko Charge Base 360 features two custom NiMH rechargeable batteries that have special contact points, making it a snap for controllers to be dropped into the Charge Base 360 without removing the battery packs. Had to happen, right? Jumping rope is great exercise, but newbies tend to give it up after 5 minutes of tripping over the rope. Now you can do it wirelessly! The Jumpsnap ropeless jump rope has an LCD display built into the handles, timers, snapping sound (like the rope hitting the floor), tracks your time, # of jumps, calculates calories burned and your general usage on a per user basis, and even a built-in audible training program. Certainly the JumpSnap isn’t cheap as compared to a traditional jumprope, but hey, think about what you’re getting. Gimme! (Read the full post about ‘JumpSnap - ropeless jump rope’…)

by Darren Murph, posted May 28th 2008 at 7:41PMWe have no real way of verifying whether or not these so-calls crystals were purchased alongside some bizarre time machine on eBay, but we’ll take this guy’s word for it and assume not for the time being. Reportedly, University of Queensland professor Max Lu has teamed up with researchers in order to grow “the world’s first titanium oxide single crystals with large amounts of reactive surfaces.” Put simply, these very crystals can “absorb sunlight and convert it into electricity.” It’s said that Lu has been working on the project for some 15 years, and even now, he doesn’t expect the creation to be commercially viable for another decade. by Nilay Patel, posted May 28th 2008 at 6:27PM Take this one with a huge grain of salt, but some enterprising members of the MacRumors forums went poking around the iphone SDK files and unearthed what might be an icon representation of the 3G iPhone. (We looked ourselves and it’s definitely there.) There’s only one tiny image (scaled up on the left), but it’s clearly different from the other iPhone icons in the bundle, and it matches up nicely with some of the other leaked images we’ve been seeing. Helio’s next generation Ocean is known as the OZ2, and below are some of the specifications to whet your appetite. I don’t think that any device will be able to usurp the hype surrounding the new 3G iphone, but still, it is good to see other companies not giving up the good fight. 3 megapixel camera Dual slider form factor microSDHC memory card slot 1GB internal memory In-browser Flash support 30fps video recording Touch-sensitive directional pad PC sync capability There is no word on pricing or availability, but if you’re an Ocean fan that make sure your current unit has enough legs to last till it’s successor is rolled out. With Intel’s Montevina platform (hopefully) on the way and AMD’s claim that “over 100″ laptops will launch with Puma, it’s kind of surprising that we haven’t seen even more pre-release info on machines due to ship with the new chips, but apparently ASUS is getting ready to hit us with some new gear at Computex. Based on the existing M51 and M70 lines, the M51VR will feature a 2.26GHz Penryn P8400 with 3MB of L2 cache on Montevina’s 1.06GHz bus, while the M51VA and M70VM (pictured) will get 2.53GHz T9400s with 6MB of cache. Has your boss been walking all over you ever since you were hired to your current job? Some office managerial figures are on a real power trip, strutting their all-knowing knowledge to all of their powerless underlings. Would your boss treat you that way if he thought you were a ninja? Psh, hell no he wouldn’t. His prized khaki pants and the legs within them would be quaking with fear that you might one day mysteriously appear out of an abandoned alley and go all kung-fu on his booty. Even if you don’t have ninja skills, these excellent Ninja Tacks can send the message. Designed by Chromoly, a new partnership between designer Jonathan Sabine and ad-designer Adam Pickard, the Ninja Tacks are the only project to be announced from the partnership thus far.
