Concept camera - control your emotionsJul 01, 2008 It is an interesting moment when some models of modern cameras are able to define when to release the shutter based on external factors, as a smile or a blink of the eye. The major part of the control is delivered to the gadget more and more often. Thats why, German designer Akbiyik Volkan has developed a shooter that acts according to its own settings. Now taking photos depends on your mood and emotions. As it is seen on the picture, the gadget is supposed to be worn over your ear, just like a hearing aid. There is a thin lens, which faces the direction youre looking at, and snaps the shot. The way the gadget recognizes emotions wasnt, actually, explained. Targus has just rolled out its new portable foldign speaker known as the AEM0702AP in Korea. I suppose you could always slip a love note inside it when folded to your mate, surprising her as she opens it at work to listen to the new CD you bought for her. Of course, if she happens to work in a place where power outlets are hard to come by, it would be prudent to include a quartet of AAA batteries into the mix so that these speakers can be powered. Alternatively, just hook it to your computer’s USB port and you’re good to go. No idea on pricing though. (Read the full post about ‘Targus portable folding speaker’…)

For those of us plagued by thoughts of waste when contemplating ditching our old iPhones to upgrade to the 3G iphone, there’s a bit of good news, as it turns out that the packaging for the new iPhone to be released on July 11th is made of recyclable potato starch. This would be hilarious if it weren’t such a sad, telling look into the minds of movie industry executives. The Cartrivision, a 1972 home VCR which preceded VHS and Betamax, contained an ingenious extra: DRM. Or, as Dan at Dan’s Data puts it, “Analog Rights Management”. It’s also a tale of innovation soured and killed by a lack of vision.
The combination TV/VCR console (an iMac for videos, if you will) could record television shows just fine, albeit at a crappy 10 frames-per-second (the frames were “stretched”, or played three times over, to fill out a full second).

Photos Gallery: Samsung OMNIA Live The Samsung OMNIA is the top of the line touch display phone in Samsung’s arsenal and it *might* come to AT&T soon. We recently played with it and we have to say that it is a really nice phone. Oh sure, it does not have mobile OSX, but believe me, it generated much oohhh and aahhhh when it was presented and passed along for people to try. We got our hands on it and found it to be a great device with tactile feedback and every feature that you might want, including push-email, GPS and 3G+ connectivity. Specifications in the full post and stay tuned for the confirmation of this info. Tags: mobile devices, consumer technology, gadgetry, pvr (Read the full post about ‘Samsung OMNIA on AT&T Soon?’…)
Tesla Motors made a big splash last year, with the introduction of their Roadster model. The car is 100% electric and can go from 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. That’s a big deal. Throw in the fact that the Roadster is also an attractive convertible, and you can see why Tesla’s stock just keeps rising and rising. Unfortunately, the starting price is US$109,000 with a lot of add-on costs for the less humble among us.
The Roadster is manufactured in California, so it seemed only natural that when announcing their plans for a new model, they would invite Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to make the announcement for them.

Coming just a few months after the last software update for the Mylo COM-2, Sony has just released yet another update. This brings the version up to 1.201 and should be well worth the time it takes to update. The new version of software offers a few big items which include support for video recording and the ability to support Memory Stick Duo memory cards up to 16GB in size. In addition the update also includes some other notable items which include: Adds a new menu option for easier photo and video uploading Provides an “Optimize” option in Task Manager for system memory Adds a function to format Memory Stick Duo media Adds the ability to display thumbnail images in the Game menu Improves Flash playback of YouTube videos Coming in at just about 60MB, the update is slightly large, but like I mentioned it seems to be a worthwhile update. The blackberry Bold is having it’s trouble with a US release date, AT&T has been rumored to have pushed it’s launch into August, but it is right on track with our Canadian neighbors. Rogers has announced that the Bold will be available on July 25. It looks like those “by-invitation-only” launch parties were indeed the path that was needed to see the official release. However, before we get excited, Rogers has not yet announced any pricing, lets just hope it is fair and we do not see another revolt.
