College football is a unique beast. People either love it or hate it. Growing up in the land of the ever-powerful SEC, I tend to reside on the “love it” side. For people like me, EA has introduced a fun, new feature in the Wii version of their NCAA Football ‘09. Haven’t you always wanted a team full of nothing but mascots? Good, because now you can have just that. The reason it’s on the Wii version of the game is the new All-Play line that EA has planned for all of their sports game. Essentially, it’s a version of the game that is to require a minimal amount of skill to play while utilizing a variety of simple-to-understand control schemes.

The G-Lab Wants to Know: What Hue is Your iPhone 3G
The best part about the 3G iPhone ain’t the high speed data access. And it’s not the smaller form factor. Or even the fact that there’s a SDK. Negative Ghost Rider, the best part about the iPhone 3G (at least the 16GB version) is the color choices. Alright so it’s just two so far, but that’s twice as many as we had before! So what shade do you prefer? Hit those comments and let the G-Lab know if you opted for your 3G iphone to come in Stormtrooper white or Darth Vader glossy black. iPhone 3G madness

iPhone 3G madness
The iphone 3G was released today, at 8 AM, and my plans to casually stroll into an Apple store at about 8 PM and buy a phone with no wait, as I did last year with the release of the original iPhone, may not work out. I’ve been calling around my city (Washington DC) and getting calls from people in other parts of the country and it’s all chaos. The mighty Apple machine, in all its soothing hospital tones, may be falling apart, at least for today. The Apple stores I’ve called in my city all have plenty of stock, but estimate at least a 5-hour wait to get into the stores. All the New York City Apple stores are reportedly out of stock in every size and color. The online Apple store in completely out of stock too. (Read the full post about ‘iPhone 3G madness’…)

Windows 3.11 will soon be laid to rest
Windows 3.11, we hardly knew ye. Okay–that may be exaggerating things a bit. Anyone who has been in the IT business as long as I have remembers the glory days of Microsoft DOS and Windows 3.11. Well as surprising as this may sound to most of you, including myself, Microsoft will finally pull the plug on Windows 3.11 later this year. According to a recent blog posting by, John Coyne, a Microsoft Systems Engineer, Windows 3.11 will meet it’s final demise on November 8th. Released almost 15 years ago in November of 1993, Windows 3.11 was still finding itself being sold in OEM embedded devices for quite some time. But alas, in November, Microsoft pulls the plug and will no longer sell Windows 3.11 for OEM machines. (Read the full post about ‘Windows 3.11 will soon be laid to rest’…)

Big Time LED Watch Table

Big Time LED Watch Table
You just gotta love the to-down view of the Big Time LED Watch Table - it truly looks like a watch to begin with, but upon closer inspection, you will realize that this is another piece of furniture to adorn your home and cause guests to go “Oooh’ and ‘Aaah’ over it. Designer Lee J. Rowland has thrown in a fully functioning watch for its surface, complete with seconds and date which can be viewed using touch buttons just like a real watch. In addition, you get extra-slim utility drawers and a programmable LED clock to round off the list of features. The watch table itself is crafted from sanitized stainless steel, giving it more value 50 years down the road when it is treated as scrap metal. OCZ Elixir Keyboard

OCZ Elixir Keyboard
OCZ expands its gaming line with the Elixir keyboard to help you gain that extra edge over your opponents in the frantic world of gaming. It comes in an ergonomic and sturdy design to withstand hours of non-stop play while minimizing the risk of injury to your digits, while relevant gaming-centric features such as 10 tri-mode programmable macro keys, mode selection, a pop-up menu shortcut, and Windows Media Players optical controller make it much more functional compared to a vanilla 101-key keyboard. All keys are 100% rubber-coated to ensure you won’t slip up during a crucial moment, but I would have liked to see a slightly higher premium compared to the $29.99 price tag to place it on par with other gaming keyboards. Wazakura Koubou from Japan will be rolling out two new gold-plated computer keyboards for folks who have way too much dough in their bank accounts. After all, if you’re running broke, you can always head towards the pawn shop with these, I’m sure the owner would be more than happy to take them in in exchange for some cash. These keyboards come with a couple of USB hubs and are plated with 99.99% pure gold, where the Kagayaki retails for $270 while the Kirameki model is relatively more affordable at $217.
