Since we’re already in the middle of the work week, why not take some time out and laugh at this parody of the iPhone thanks to E!’s The Soup. For the uninitiated, The Soup is a TV show found on the E! network that makes fun of TV and pop culture in the U.S. This parody iPhone ad actually ran on the show earlier this week, much to the chagrin of many an iPhone 3G owner.

Microsoft does not only dabble in software, they do have their fingers dipped in hardware as well. Case in point, the range of notebook mice as well as the Microsoft Sidewinder gaming mouse. Today we have a leaked image of a new wireless mouse known as the Microsoft Arc. Scant information is available concerning the Arc at this point in time, but we do know that it features a rear half that folds in order to ease your storage woes when traveling. You will be able to pick up this interesting looking hardware this holiday season for $59.95 a pop. (Read the full post about ‘Microsoft Arc mouse leaked’…)

Life’s all about details, and for those who want to see the micro picture, they can always rely on the Portable Digital Magnifier. Even if it does not reveal the secrets of life, at the very least it is able to magnify fine print that lawyers love to throw at you in their documents. The Portable Digital Magnifier outputs the magnification to a crystal clear 2″ LCD screen and with the push of a button the image can be frozen on the screen, for closer inspection. A conveniently located scroll wheel lets you instantly change the magnification level, from 5x to 20x (in increments of 1x). The magnifier illuminates using three built-in LEDs and the included batteries re-charge via USB connection. (Read the full post about ‘Portable Digital Magnifier’…)
The battle of the press releases seems to be the theme behind the power for control of Yahoo! and a possible takeover in part or in whole by Microsoft. Earlier we reported that Yahoo! released a statement indicating that they received an offer from Carl Icahn and Microsoft to purchase Yahoo!’s search business on Friday. Yahoo! stated that the offer also included a demand that Icahn be able to seat his slate of directors and replace senior management immediately. Yahoo! also portrayed the offer by Microsoft and Icahn as a “take it or leave it offer” in their press release.
Microsoft retaliated on Monday by releasing their own press release accusing Yahoo!

As much as I resent being left out of anything, here’s an offer I could refuse: ever predictable, and never up on the zeitgeist, Playboy has discovered blogging a good five to ten years after the rest of the Internet. They’ve also discovered that - gasp! - some bloggers are women. So, Playboy joined those dots, and has created a list of the “hottest” female bloggers and podcasters they could find. (We all know being sexy is the most important virtue a girl could have, don’t we?) They’re asking readers to choose their faves, who will be asked to pose nude for Playboy. I can only hope the winners say “hell to the no.” It’s too late for some people, but maybe the rest of us can be known for the quality of our writing rather than the size of our chests or pretty our byline picture is. Coming in with the “great things come in small packages” philosophy, Bizarre Creations has offered an extremely short (as in 28 seconds short) teaser trailer for the upcoming Geometry Wars 2 title at E3. I’m extremely excited to see the multiplayer action, which looks great, as well as the even more frenetic action over the first title (as if it lacked in that arena to begin with) that is showcased. So frenetic, in fact, that the phrase “imminent seizure-related lawsuit” comes to mind. I would have liked to see a much longer trailer showing more of the gameplay, but what is here looks very tantalizing. (Read the full post about ‘Geometry Wars 2 E3 trailer’…)

The MobileMe Team sent an e-mail out this morning answering the biggest question surrounding the launch of MobileMe: is information really being “pushed” from PCs and Macs? According to the e-mail, “all email, contact or calendar changes on the iphone and web apps are immediately synced to and from the MobileMe “cloud,” changes made on a PC or Mac take up to 15 minutes to sync with the cloud and your other devices.” As a result of the up to 15 minute sync time, The MobileMe Team will stop using the word “push” until the syncing is near-instant on PCs and Macs. In the e-mail the team also acknowledges that it had a rocky transition from .Mac to MobileMe, and assures that everything is now up and running. It’s an ambitious project: trekking 4,000 miles of jungle paths over an 18 month period. I feel tired just thinking about it (then again, I feel tired just thinking about trekking into the kitchen for a snack, which might explain why it’s almost dinner time and I still haven’t had lunch. But I digress…) I can’t think why friends Ed Stafford and Luke Collyer, both from Britain, thought that an ipod (plus solar charger) wasn’t an essential item for their trip in the first place. Or why they believed that they wouldn’t get sick of each others’ company after so darn long. But they were optimistic and naive, and their story came to a sorry head on day 68 of their journey, when Luke told Ed he was sick of the sight of him. By now you have probably seen the two most prominent reviews of the BlackBerry Bold, and chances are that you are somewhat excited about the phone (at least curious, right?). RIM has not been able to cut through all the iphone 3G hype, but if you need a great smartphone and you’re not interested in an Apple product then there is a very good chance that you have your eye on the Bold or Thunder.
The good news is that you won’t have to wait too long for either. Boy Genius is reporting that we will be seeing the Bold sometime in September for most carriers.

Capcom has, not surprisingly, released a slew of new trailers for the insanely anticipated newest chapter in its seminal Resident Evil franchise. Among the offerings is an all-new teaser trailer for the expo, as well as two trailers detailing the co-op feature in the game. Co-op Resident Evil?
