Panasonic green low-power DECT phones? Not so fast
Panasonic is presenting the DECT 6.0 phone as a “green” phone because it is Energy Star compliant and supposedly consumes less power than similar devices. While I applaud the (very small) energy savings, I would like to ask: how much can it possibly consume, especially in comparison to the energy (and the gas emissions) that it took to build it, transport it and store it. Also, how much energy will it take to get recycle all that plastic? I would sure like to find the carbon footprint that this “green” product will generate during its life cycle. By the way, the power consumption is so (not) important that they neglected to put it in the specification on Amazon. (Read the full post about ‘Panasonic green low-power DECT phones? Not so fast’…)

Ever wonder what websites are popular? Sure, we know that Facebook and Digg are used all over the country, but how exactly does the state-by-state breakdown look? Andrew Chen went ahead and looked at the numbers in a way that I’m amazed nobody has done yet, by using Google Insights for Search. The service is largely unscientific and uses any search term to determine where the term is popular. It’s the simplicity of such a service that makes me wonder why nobody has done this yet.

Chen looked up Digg, Facebook, MySpace, Netvibes, Skype, Techcrunch, Twitter, and YouTube. One would think that all of these sites would show a massive amount of hits all over the country.

Not that we weren’t already aware of the FinePix F60fd, but it — alongside the S2000HD, J150w, J120, J110w and J100 — was just made official courtesy of Fujifilm. As for the aforementioned F60fd, it’s packin’ a 12-megapixel CCD sensor, 25MB of internal memory, an xD / SD / SDHC card slot, VGA movie mode, 3x optical zoom, 3-inch lcd monitor and USB 2.0 connectivity. If you’re looking for technical pizazz, the 10-megapixel S2000HD is the one to eye, sporting a 15x optical zoom and a video out port. It’s no secret to say that Microsoft’s Zune has no hope of becoming an ipod killer. The player has been out for two years now, and hasn’t been too popular. Even the popular “social” features that looked to be so innovative aren’t being used by the people that buy the Zune. There’s just nobody else to “join the social” with. Microsoft isn’t sitting back and letting Apple pummel them, though.

Considering that many of our mobile electronics have USB ports for charging, it is not always convenient to find a spare USB port, especially when traveling on the road.

I suppose this is why the In car charger has USB ports, four of them actually. This In car charger plugs right into the cigarette lighter, and now the user can plug in an ipod, mobile phone, digital camera, GPS device, or any other USB device that he or she needs on the open road.

The charger works within a range of 12-24 volts, and a fuse that can be changed out.

Extra-Wide Contacts gives you that sought after Anime look
Rather you call it Japanimation or anime, the Japanese style of cartooning has a few distinctive factors which are hard to ignore. The chunky hair styles are angular and sharp, while the stand-out facial feature is undeniably the huge eyes and wide irises. While you can easily fashion your hair in anyway you wish with enough effort, changing your eyes to resemble an anime character was at one time, pretty impossible. It seems that a few companies are now starting to produce Extra-Wide Contact Lenses which give you that deer-caught-in-the-headlights wide irised look. Ranging from prices between $30-$50 a pair, depending on the company you purchase from. Cosplay was never this realistic. Zivio Boom Bluetooth Headset

Posted on: 12, Aug

Zivio Boom Bluetooth Headset
The Zivio Boom Bluetooth 2.1+EDR headset weighs a mere 13 grams, so unless your ear is really weak, it ought to be able to make you forget that it is there in the first place. What makes this Bluetooth headset stand out? Certainly not the design as it isn’t exactly inspiring, but it does boast a talk time of 10 hours and a 300 hour standby time. What makes this special compared to the rest would be the extending boom that can be expanded to 137mm from 53.5mm when the situation calls for it, being placed right in front of your gab so that there is no need to shout. How much for this luxury? $130, so says the price tag. Tags: video, amps, tests, mobiles (Read the full post about ‘Zivio Boom Bluetooth Headset’…)

Dell Latitude E4200 and E4300 ultra-portable laptops
Dell just announced a bunch of laptops, but these two are particularly interesting to us because we love ultra-portables (who doesn’t?). The 12.1″ Latitude E4200 weighs only 2.2 Lbs (thanks partly to its SSD drive), making it the lightest Latitude laptop ever. And it does that while preserving a size that allows to have a comfortable keyboard. Secondly, the E4300 is a 13.3″, which is probably the best compromise between portability and work comfort. It weighs 3.39lbs. Both laptops feature a 1280×800 resolution display. Specs highlights in the full post. (Read the full post about ‘Dell Latitude E4200 and E4300 ultra-portable laptops’…)

Nifty App Turns Your iPhone Into a Wireless Drive
As small as they are, thumb drives on your keychain still scream "DORK!" A $7 application released Tuesday turns your iPhone into a wireless drive, sparing you the need to carry around those pieces of dorkware. We’ve been looking forward to Verisoft’s DataCase since it was announced in July, and we’ve had a chance to test it. It was so easy to set up we didn’t need to consult an instruction manual. To get started, you connect your iPhone and computer to the same wireless network; your computer will recognize your iphone as a network device. You then select your iPhone on your computer and tap the button on your phone to allow an incoming connection. (Read the full post about ‘Nifty App Turns Your iPhone Into a Wireless Drive’…)

New Polaroid Camera Will Shake it With Built-in Printer
Polaroid is dead, right? The iconic supplier of anonymous photo processing to a generation of pervs effectively shut up shop back in February, closing the factories that made its instant film. The company began its attempt to claw back some customers with the PoGo, a portable Bluetooth and USB printer, but what we really want is a digicam with a built in printer. That would be the true successor to the Land Camera, and, happily, that’s what we shall soon have. Polaroid has teamed up with UK magazine Amateur Photographer to decide on the details of a new camera which will have a built in PoGo. The only confirmed news so far is the size of the prints.
