by Darren Murph, posted Aug 20th 2008 at 10:01AMWe won’t say it got picked dead last in kickball or anything, but Sylvania’s G Netbook Meso certainly isn’t the class king. The ho hum netbook was recently reviewed over at Laptop Mag, and while critics did applaud the Ubuntu Netbook Remix operating system and relatively great battery life, the 512MB of RAM hindered performance. Additionally, the design was harshed on quite heavily, eventually leading to a perfectly middle-of-the-road 2.5 out of 5 stars. Mitsubishi’s latest ultra-slim LCD HDTV has an edge over the rest since it comes with support for the WHDI (Wireless High Definition), allowing you to pair up the HDTV with other compatible HDTV devices located in your home without the need to run pesky wires through and over the whole place. WHDI has a working range of over 100 feet, so you need not worry about not getting a signal unless you live in one of those palatial mansions of yore where the dining hall is as large as a football field. Don’t you just love how wireless technology helps reduce the clutter in our homes? (Read the full post about ‘Mitsubishi HDTV Panel Has WHDI Specs’…)

Lenovo IdeaPad U110 Years after chucking the IBM moniker, Lenovo has worked hard to produce a line of PCs that don’t scream "boring business machine." It was a launch that at times seemed like it was never going to happen, and now that it has officially been confirmed by Rogers, potential customers have just about 24 hours left to wait before they are able to purchase a blackberry Bold of their own. Sadly Rogers has not released any pricing details, I guess they are intent on making everyone wait to the very last minute for everything. However, according to RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie it will be priced between $300 and $400 and will be aimed at business users, which seems to fit in nicely with the rumored price of $399. Of course, I can imagine most potential customers are hoping it will come in a little less expensive, possibly something a little closer to the pricing of the 16GB iphone. The Intel Nehalem series of processors will replace the current Core line-up and start shipping later this year.
This new series provides greater power management by allowing individual cores (processors) to be turned off or on as needed. So, for example, if the current task only needs two processors of a quad-core system, two of the cores can be powered down until they are needed later.
Nehalem will also include an improved virtualization technology called VT-d that Intel says doubles the performance of virtual machines.
