36″ Twitching Lighted Spider
With Halloween coming up upon us in a couple months’ time, it is never too early to prepare. Enter the 36″ Twitching Lighted Spider to help add that Halloween charm to your home as kids drop by, asking for treats and tricks. This spiders eight illuminated legs span 36″ in diameter, four of which move slowly to create the simulacrum of careful, calculated movement as if stalking prey. The spiders thorax and abdomen conceal a stealthily quiet electric motor that drives a system of levers attached to the two front and two rear legs, creating a semblance of life as the legs twitch back and forth while the abdomen slowly rises and falls. Google is already the king of search everywhere else imaginable–on the web, in businesses, and on our desktops–so it stands to reason that they would try to take over the mobile market as well. It seems that Google has been in talks with Verizon Wireless to become the exclusive search for all of their phones. This would obviously be an enormous coup for Google, as it could mean a Google search bar plastered everybody that Verizon goes.

It’s not just web search, either. The deal is reportedly covering all search functionality, including looking for ringtones and applications on Verizon’s in-house site.

Sprint lowers Phone-As-Model pricing from $50 to $15, conditions apply
Sprint has just lowered their Phone-As-Modem pricing from $50 a month all the way down to $15 a month. Sounds like you are going to see some huge savings, right? Well not so fast, because as you would expect with anything that sounds a little good to be true, there are some conditions that will apply. To begin with you need to have a Power Vision phone with connection capabilities, which is going to limit your phone choices a bit, but that is not it. In addition to the phone, you also need to be subscribed to another Sprint data plan, such as the Pro Pack that is going for $30 a month. Now instead of the huge savings that you were thinking, you are saving just $5 a month. (Read the full post about ‘Sprint lowers Phone-As-Model pricing from $50 to $15, conditions apply’…)

Intel previews new Classmate PC design
Image courtesy of Zumo Blog Because our children aren’t tethered to enough technical devices by their videogame consoles, home computers, or cell phones, Intel is releasing a new offering into its Classmate PC lineup. The new model is a tablet touch screen with “motion sensing interaction features.” Intel claims that its research led them to realize that these new features would be better suited for a classroom environment, but I think anyone with common sense knew that already that children are very mobile and prone to touching anything and everything that interests them. It was just a matter of how to manufacturer it at an affordable price, and now they figured it out. (Read the full post about ‘Intel previews new Classmate PC design’…)

Dell’s Inspiron 910 caught in the wild, and its running Ubuntu
Based on previous leaked images we are likely to believe this is the real deal, because after all, isn’t it a rule that these always be blurry and slightly hard to look at. Of course we cannot confirm if these are truly the real deal, but deep down we hope they are. Based on these images, this model seems a little nicer than the last leaked images, for one it does not seem nearly as shiny and prone to show every little flaw. However the keyboard does seem to be missing a few things, notably the function keys. Keep reading to check out another image of the Inspiron 910, along with another image of the configuration screen… Via [Engadget] Keep up with the latest gadget goodness! Colombians Charged Up the Wazoo for iPhone 3G
Apple would like to control its products in every way, including price, but it couldn’t prevent Colombian carriers from jacking up the iPhone 3G’s price to more than double its original cost. Carriers Movistar and Comcel launched the iPhone 3G on Friday in Colombia, and customers were likely disgruntled to learn they had to pay up to $605 for the 16GB iPhone 3G and up to $489 for the 8GB model. By way of comparison, the handset costs $299 for the 16GB model and $199 for the 8GB model in the United States. How much you pay for an iphone in Colombia depends on the monthly plan you choose: The more expensive the plan, the less the cost of the handset itself. Pretty messed up, isn’t it? Review: Rough Riding Casio Phone Is Like Getting a Hummer (No, Not That Kind)
Casio G’zOne Boulder I’m not going to mince words. This phone is orange. Really orange. Like in the same obnoxious vein as the color options for a new Hummer. But if you can overlook this (as I eventually did), then you’ll probably enjoy Casio’s new G’zOne, dubbed the "Boulder." That’s right — this angular, candy colored handset is the offspring of the Gadgetlab’s crumpled Type-V, Type-S, and Type-SL review units. The Boulder isn’t another rugged rehash, though. In fact, Casio finally threw a curve by including some fairly useful multimedia features. Welcome additions like music playback, a more powerful (but still lacking) camera, and zippy EV-DO connectivity fatten up this phone’s already rock solid resume. Freestyle Dirtsurfer

Freestyle Dirtsurfer
Here’s an alternative mode of transport - the Freestyle Dirtsurfer that allows you to go faster than a skateboard, but you will need to learn how to balance it like a bike. This hybrid-type vehicle, if you can classify it as that, comes with a simple lever-activated disc brake mounted on the rear wheel to help you stop, but knowing most folks who prefer to immerse themselves in extreme sports, the brake will be the first to go. If you’re the cautious type, all you need to do when speeding down on the Freestyle Dirtsurfer is to nudge the brake bar with your leg. It will cost you $450 for the Freestyle Dirtsurfer. Man, we didn’t even know the Muteki moniker was still in existence. Nevertheless, Sony has just added a big, bad member to said congregation with the LBT-DJ2i XROSS FADE. This rather beastly music system packs 450 total watts of power, a CD player, AM / FM tuners, a line-in jack, a pair of 2-way shelf speakers, a dual 7-inch subwoofer enclosure and the ability to convert CDs / radio to MP3 files. And that’s just the beginning. Aspiring DJs will also find a bundled cross-fader with monitor cue and a built-in two-channel mixer, and the ipod-lovin’ interface ensures that you’ll never have to touch your PMPs once they’re mounted.
