Mac Pro Mini Puts the Mac Mini to Shame
When Stagueve Hemmerstoffer received a dead MacBook, he had greater ambitions than simply repairing it. After bringing the MacBook back to life by replacing its hard drive and RAM, he sought out parts to modify the notebook into a miniature desktop sporting the same look as the Mac Pro, Apple’s high-end desktop system. Really neat stuff: He bought a Macally aluminum enclosure and cut it down to size. Then he removed the guts of the MacBook and crammed them into the enclosure (much more difficult than it sounds). He provides a full how-to on his blog.    Now, this gets me thinking: If Apple decides to roll out an upgrade to its mac mini desktop system (which it hasn’t in well over a year), wouldn’t it be cool if it received the aluminum treatment just like the latest MacBooks? Gadgetell Interview: TripIt’s Gregg Brockway
As a frequent traveler, I am awash in trip confirmations, hotels, and rental car info.  I often forget who I’ve told I am going away and who I’ve not.  TripIt aims to change all that.  By simply forwarding them your confirmation emails, they scan the doc and import in the pertinent information into their system and put it out there for you and anyone you give access to.  Talk about handy. I’ve been using TripIt for a bit now and must say it works as promised.  It takes email forwarded from sites like Travelocity and Expedia as well as from the airlines directly and travel agents.  Entering in new trips was effortless and the data entered was spot on.  Even when JetBlue changed a flight time on me, I forwarded the email wondering if it would throw their system for a loop; nope, it changed my data just as I hoped. Brand New Non-Flat Tires

Brand New Non-Flat Tires
Now here’s a paradigm shift when it comes to your vehicle’s set of wheels courtesy of Resilient Technologies’ non-pneumatic tire (NPT) system which relies on a honeycomb of unspecified polymers that keeps on going even though 30% of the material is missing, helping you get to your destination safely. No longer do you have to worry about punctures, and it boasts greater flexibility, better load support and less heat produced when driving. The gaps also work great in helping shrapnel pass through instead of being lodged inside. Guess the Army’s going places now, eh? (Read the full post about ‘Brand New Non-Flat Tires’…)

Sprint: Plug into widget overload
Sprint is all over the place.  They just lost 1.3 million customers, they’ve got their CEO on television yammering about technology, and now they’ve unveiled this thing.  What is it?  It is Sprint’s promotion of its mobile broadband service featuring over 30 widgets.  At random intervals, a woman’s voice will say things like, “Feel free to touch it.“  You can listen to music, mess around with some of the widgets just by clicking on them like the cuckoo clock and be inundated with all kinds of information that you don’t need. A hot keyboard always needs a partner…
You may remember the slightly odd Thanko Hot Cooler USB Keyboard which warmed/cooled your hands whilst you typed, which could be in some circumstances quite good.  Well, undeterred they have moved to mouses (yes, that is the plural of a computer mouse) and mouse mats with the “USB Warm mouse” and “USB Warm Mousemat.“  Unfortunately, it would appear that they still haven’t sacked the guy who names these things, as they are as unimaginative as ever. Supercomputer race gets faster

Supercomputer race gets faster
Supercomputers are great, in fact even the name is great: conjuring images of CPUs in red capes flying to the help of damsels in distress.  However, in the real world they are hundreds of cabinets stuffed full of computer stuff and do in fact look incredibly dull.  The opposite can be said of what they actually do as they push the boundaries of what is capable using solely 0s and 1s to solve complex calculations, help define new theorem, and play Crysis on full graphics. Wireless ButtKicker kit ready to rumble your posterior
by Darren Murph, posted Nov 17th 2008 at 10:40AM Earlier this year, we were fortunate (or unfortunate, depending on perspective) enough to get our rumps on one of the famed ButtKickers. For those unaware, these devices are meant for installation underneath a seat or sofa in order to provide chair-rumbling effects to help you “feel” the film. Now, the Guitammer Company is making them even easier to install by cutting the wires, bringing low frequency audio transducers just inches from your derriere without any cords necessary.
